Eeva Primmer serves as the Research Director and Professor at the Finnish Environment Institute, where responsibilities include leading the Environmental Governance Unit and managing a multidisciplinary team focused on environmental policy research. Primmer's experience also includes current involvement as a Bureau Member for IPBES and prior roles as a Mercator Professor at the University of Freiburg, Associate Editor for Ecosystem Services (Elsevier), and various research and coordination positions within the Finnish Environment Institute. Holding a PhD in forestry from the University of Helsinki, Primmer has a robust background in researching biodiversity conservation, ecosystem governance, and forest policy decision-making.
