Katja Bego currently serves as a Senior Research Fellow at Chatham House since August 2024, while also working as an author focused on geopolitical competition and the weaponization of undersea cables, with a book set to release in 2025 through Polity. Since January 2019, Katja has provided independent expertise and advisory contributions to various organizations, including advisory roles in significant Horizon2020 projects like ATARCA. Katja is an alumna of the BBC Women Expert Programme, selected for fostering emerging women voices in STEM. From January 2023 to May 2024, Katja led a team at the Information Commissioner's Office, specializing in emerging technologies. Prior experience includes roles at Nesta as Principal Researcher and Head of Future Internet Programme, and a tenure as a Business Intelligence Analyst Trainee at Criteo. Katja's academic background includes a Master of Arts in History of War from King's College London and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Wellesley College, complemented by an education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
