Deepika Arora has worked in various roles in the field of research since 2010. From 2010 to 2014, they were an Undergraduate/Graduate Research Assistant (MS) and an Undergraduate Researcher at North Dakota State University, where they performed allele characterization for the genes at the rpg4-locus using RT-PCR on several wild and cultivated barley accessions, identified a dominant stem rust susceptibility factor, HvPP2C at the rpg4/Rpg5 locus, and used Virus induced gene silencing (VIGS) to post transcriptionally silence the HvPP2C gene in stem rust susceptible genotypes. Deepika also studied the effect of moisture content and temperature on lilac seed germination. In 2014, they became a Young Professional II at ICAR- Indian Council of Agricultural Research, where they conducted genetic diversity analysis of Pigeon Pea Sterility Mosaic Virus (PPSMV) samples collected from different parts of India, conducted whole genome sequencing and gene characterization of PPSMV, and developed RNAi constructs for geminiviruses. Most recently, they have been a Scientist I at Genemarkers since 2022.

Deepika Arora's education history includes a Doctorate in Plant Pathology/Phytopathology from North Dakota State University from 2018 to 2022, a Master of Science in Plant Pathology/Phytopathology from North Dakota State University from 2011 to 2014, a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology from North Dakota State University from 2009 to 2011, and an Advance Diploma in Biotechnology from Ansal University Gurgaon from 2007 to 2009.
