Technical Writer

Global Systems Engineering (GSE)is a HUBZone small business that supports the federal government with a variety of high-end technical and engineering services.  We are responsive to our customers’ needs, which change often.  This creates a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift, and tasks may require short deadlines.  

GSE is currently seeking a Technical Writer to join the Cybersecurity Assurance team to prepare clear and concise reports, findings, and remediation plans. This position works with the U.S. Army and may require limited travel to CONUS installations. 

Occasional travel to Alexandria, VA home office. 

Responsibilities assigned to this position include: 

• Develop templates for technical documentation and reporting.

• Document team findings, vulnerabilities, and recommended solutions.

• Ensure compliance with project documentation standards.

• Write about technical subjects for technical and nontechnical audiences.

• Adhere to and update in-house style guide.

• Create infographics and screenshot markups.

• Update, edit, and proofread written materials.

• Work closely with subject matter experts, engineers, developers, and product marketing team.

Required Experience: 

• Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications, or related field.

• 3+ years of experience in technical documentation.

• Strong written communication skills.

• Ability to prioritize multiple simultaneous deadlines.

• Ability to collaborate with a team.

Preferred Experience: 

• MA in technical writing a plus.

• Society of Technical Writers certification a plus.

• Portfolio of technical writing samples for review.
