Michelle Grau has a broad range of work experience. Michelle began their career in 2007 as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of San Diego College of Arts and Sciences, where they also served as an Organic Chemistry Lab Teacher's Assistant, Chemistry Student Tutor, Math Student Tutor, and Math Student Grader. In 2009, they were an ACS Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow at the American Chemical Society. In 2010, they were a Summer Research Intern at GNF, where they focused on the development of a treatment for drug-resistant tuberculosis. From 2012-2014, they were a Data Analyst at Trademotion, where they analyzed, managed, and prepared reports on TradeMotion's software sales data and developed and managed TradeMotion's client relations management software. From 2014-2019, they were a Graduate Teaching Assistant, Lab Safety Officer, and Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Southern California, where their research adviser was Dr. Clay C. C. Since 2019, they have been a Scientist II at Zymergen, and more recently in 2021, they became a Scientist II at Hexagon Bio.
Michelle Grau received their High School Diploma from South Burlington High School in 2006. Michelle then went on to obtain their Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry from the University of San Diego College of Arts and Sciences in 2010. Finally, they earned their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Molecular Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of Southern California in 2019.
