Tielman van Vleck

Tielman Van Vleck currently serves as the Director of Clinical Linguistics and Data Science at the BioMe Phenomics Center within the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, a position held since July 2017. Tielman is the Principal at Idem LLC, where data analytics focuses on medical natural language processing for clinical research and trial recruitment. As the Founder of ThoughtBook LLC and a Board member at the Trudeau Institute, Tielman contributes to biomedical research initiatives. Additionally, Tielman co-founded the Center for International Emergency Medical Services to enhance emergency medical services in developing countries and previously held roles including Co-Founder and CTO at SMBscorecard and Director of Clinical Analytics at Clinithink, LTD. With a Ph.D. in Biomedical Informatics from Columbia University, Tielman's doctoral research concentrated on text summarization of clinical notes, complemented by a BA in Economics, Computer Science, and Physics from Colby College.
