Moira H. has a diverse work experience in the medical and scientific writing field. Moira currently works at ICON plc as a Scientific Lead, a position they have held since April 2022. Prior to this role, they were a Senior Medical Writer at the same company from November 2017 to April 2022. Before joining ICON plc, Moira worked at Watermeadow Medical as a Senior Medical Editor from October 2014 to December 2015.

In addition, Moira has held various roles at the European Association of Science Editors. These include being an International Advisory Board member since June 2018, a Council Member from September 2015 to June 2018, an Editorial Board Member/Chief Editor of European Science Editing from September 2000 to September 2015, and the Chief Editor of European Science Editing from June 2006 to February 2011.

Moira also gained experience at the University of Oxford as a Medical Writer/Portfolio Manager from February 2009 to December 2012, and at Highfield Communications Consultancy as a Medical Writer from September 2006 to February 2009.

Before starting these positions, Moira founded DunaScripts Limited, a company providing scientific writing and technical editing services to science and medical publishers, authors, and pharmaceutical companies. Moira was the proprietor of this company from May 1997 to August 2006.

Moira began their career in academia at the University of Leicester, where they worked as a Non-clinical Lecturer and Research Team Lead in the Division of Dermatology from December 1992 to May 1998.

Moira H. received their BSc/PhD in Microbiology/Virology from the University of Warwick, where they studied from 1981 to 1988. Moira also obtained a certification in ISMPP CMPP from the International Society for Medical Publication Professionals in December 2015. Additionally, they completed a course on Introduction to Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis at Johns Hopkins University, although the exact dates of completion are unavailable.
