Douglas Schouten has over 10 years of experience in technology-related roles. From 2011 to 2014, they worked as a Research Associate at TRIUMF. During this time, they also held the role of Research and Innovation Associate at CRM Geotomography Technologies from 2014 to 2020. Since 2020, they have been the Chief Technology Officer at Ideon Technologies Inc., a spin-off from TRIUMF and a world pioneer in the application of cosmic-ray muon tomography. At Ideon, they have developed a discovery platform that integrates proprietary detectors, imaging systems, inversion technologies, and artificial intelligence techniques to provide x-ray-like visibility up to 1 km beneath the Earth’s surface.
Douglas Schouten obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Physics and Computer Science from The University of British Columbia in 2005. Douglas then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics from Simon Fraser University, which they completed in 2011.
