Gary Thorpe has a diverse work experience in human resources, holding various leadership roles. Gary started their career as a Seasonal Laborer at the City of Fond du Lac in 1996 and worked there until 2000. In 1993, they joined Sentry Foods as a Night Manager and held that position until 2000. From 2001 to 2003, they worked as an HR Generalist at Clarity Care, Inc. In 2003, they joined Lutheran Homes and Health Services, Inc. as the Chief Human Resources Officer and held that role until 2016. In 2015, they became a Board Member-President at the Human Resource Association - Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce. In 2016, they joined Marquardt Village as the Chief Human Resources Officer. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President of Human Resources at Illuminus starting from 2017.

In 1995 to 1997, they attended the University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac and earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences - AAS degree in Business Administration and Management, General.
From 1997 to 2000, they pursued their Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree with a focus in Human Resources Management and Services at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.
Following this, from 2003 to 2005, they enrolled at Cardinal Stritch University, where they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management, General.
In 2008 to 2009, they pursued additional education at FDL Association of Commerce and received a Leadership Certification with a focus on Civic Leadership.
Finally, in 2014 to 2015, they attended Moraine Park Technical College to complete the STRAT Leadership Program, focusing on Strategic Leadership.
