Priya Bariya has a diverse work experience in the field of scientific research. Priya started their career as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, where they worked on identifying the function of a candidate gene using Caenorhabditis elegans. Priya then worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of New Orleans, where they focused on population demography studies using DNA extraction and sequencing techniques.
After completing their undergraduate degree, Priya joined the University of Missouri-Columbia as a Graduate Research Assistant, studying bacterial protein export through the general secretory pathway. Priya also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, assisting in an undergraduate biochemistry laboratory course.
Moving forward, Priya worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where they expanded the in vitro studies on protein translocation through the E. coli translocon. Priya continued their research at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, first as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and later as a Scientist. Here, they focused on immune-mediated liver injury, investigating the efficacy of candidate drugs, the role of bile acid and bile acid receptors in liver inflammation and fibrosis, as well as the cellular and molecular mechanisms driving biliary fibrosis.
Most recently, Priya joined Immunologix Laboratories as a Scientist, where they continue their work in immunology and laboratory research.
Priya Bariya obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from the University of New Orleans. Priya attended the university from 2008 to 2012. Subsequently, they pursued higher education at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where they earned a Doctorate degree in Biochemistry. Priya completed their doctoral studies at the University of Missouri-Columbia from 2012 to 2017.
