Mads Thau is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Social Research since April 2021, focusing on democratic issues, political behavior, public administration, and welfare delivery. Previously, Mads served as a Researcher at VIVE – Det Nationale Forsknings- og Analysecenter for Velfærd, where work encompassed public administration, municipal financial management, and welfare service provision from March 2018 to April 2021. Mads also held the position of Guest Researcher in the Department of Political Science at Universitetet i Oslo for a brief period in late 2020. Mads completed a PhD in Political Science from Aarhus University in 2018, with a dissertation examining group-based appeals by political parties. Additional roles included Research and Teaching Assistant positions at Aarhus University, alongside prior experience as an Interviewer at Ramboll Management Consulting and a Supervisor at Tivoli Friheden. Mads holds multiple degrees in Political Science from Aarhus University, University of Oxford, and experience as a visiting student at institutions such as the University of Oslo and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
