Dr Andrew Catto

Dr. Andrew Catto has extensive work experience in the healthcare sector. Dr Andrew currently holds the position of Non-Executive Director at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust since 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Chief Executive Officer and later as the Chief Medical Officer & Deputy Chief Executive at Integrated Care 24 from 2017 to 2020. Dr. Catto also worked as the Associate Director of NHS England Medical Directorate from 2016 to 2017. Dr Andrew held the position of Executive Medical Director & Deputy Chief Executive at Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust from 2014 to 2016, and at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust from 2009 to 2014. Previously, they worked as a Consultant Physician & Group Director at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust from 2005 to 2009. Dr. Catto's early career involved academic roles at the University of Leeds, where they served as an MRC Clinician Scientist & Senior Lecturer in Medicine from 1999 to 2005 and as a Lecturer in Medicine from 1996 to 1999. Dr Andrew also worked as an Honorary Consultant Physician at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust from 1999 to 2005.

Dr Andrew Catto has a diverse education history. Dr Andrew earned a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Leeds in 1989. In 1993, they pursued further studies at the same university, obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Genetics of blood coagulation and stroke. Dr Andrew also completed a MRCP (UK) qualification from the Royal College of Physicians in 1993. Continuing their medical training, they received a CCST in General & Geriatric Medicine from the Specialist Training Authority (STA) in 1999. Dr Catto furthered their education in healthcare management, earning a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Services Management from Keele University between 2015 and 2018. In the same year, they also became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP).
