Anas Alfaris

Anas Alfaris, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience that spans across various organizations and roles. Anas is currently the Co-Founder and CEO of intelmatix, a position they have held since July 2021. Additionally, since October 2021, they have served as a Member of the International Science Board at UNESCO.

Prior to their current roles, Dr. Alfaris had significant involvement with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Anas held positions such as Visiting Professor, Visiting Associate Professor, Visiting Assistant Professor, and Research Scientist at MIT from 2009 to 2021.

In 2017, Dr. Alfaris became a Partner at FA Group (Design + Engineering). Anas also served as the Chair of Science 20 starting in September 2019.

Furthermore, Dr. Alfaris has taken on various leadership positions within academic and scientific organizations. Anas served as a Member of the Board of Trustees at KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) from November 2020 to April 2022. Anas was also a Board Member at King Abdulaziz and Their Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity from November 2020 to April 2022, a Board Member at King Salman Science Oasis from January 2020 to April 2021, and a Board Member at Saudi Space Commission from January 2020 to April 2021.

Additionally, Dr. Alfaris has held several roles at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), including President from November 2019 to April 2021, VP of Research Institutes from April 2015 to October 2019, and Director of Joint Centers of Excellence Program (JCEP) from July 2013 to January 2019.

Anas Alfaris, Ph.D. holds a Ph.D. in Design Computation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Anas also earned a Master of Science degree in Computational Science and Engineering from MIT. Prior to that, they completed two Master of Science degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in Computational Design Systems and Building Technology.
