Melinda Taylor has a strong background in human rights litigation and international criminal defense. Melinda currently serves as the Co-Chair of the IBA Human Rights Committee at the International Bar Association. In 2015, they began working at the International Criminal Court, initially as Defense Counsel for Jean-Pierre Bemba and later as Lead Counsel for Al Hassan Ag Abdoul Aziz Ag Mohamed Ag Mahmoud. Prior to their work at the ICC, they had their own private practice where they co-founded the Yazidi Asylum Project and worked as a short-term consultant for the African Court Research Initiative. Melinda also gained experience working for the Legal team of Mr. Julian Assange at WikiLeaks and as Legal Counsel for David Haigh, the former Managing Director of Leeds United Football Club. Melinda has a long history with the International Criminal Court, where they served as Counsel for Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi and also held positions as Associate Counsel, Deputy Head of OPCD, and Counsel/Deputy Head of OPCD. Melinda's early career included roles as a Legal Assistant/Consultant at Knoops en Partners Advocaten, a Legal Officer at UNMIK, and an Associate Legal Officer at ICTY.

Melinda Taylor holds a Master's Degree in International Human Rights Law from The University of Oxford, which they obtained from 2003 to 2005. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor's Degree in Law and Arts (majoring in Political Science) with First Class Honours from The University of Queensland between 1993 and 1998.
