Richard Johnson

Director of Control System Engineering at IntraOp Medical

Richard Johnson has worked for a number of companies since 1996, starting with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory as a Senior Member of Technical Staff. Richard then moved to Soliant Energy in 2005, where they served as a Senior Research Scientist and Co-Founder. During their time there, they designed optics for 1 and 2 axis solar concentrators for commercial rooftops, and developed sensors, electronics, and control software for closed loop sun tracking. In 2011, Johnson became the Chief Scientist at Thermata, and then in 2012 they were appointed CEO of Best Thrift. In 2016, they began working for HarbourView Technologies, LLC as the Owner, IntraOp Medical Corporation as the Director of Control System Engineering, and Sparling Instruments, LLC as the Principle Design Engineer.

Richard Johnson attended Norfolk Academy from 1979 to 1991, where they obtained their high school diploma. Richard then attended Cornell University from 1991 to 1994, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Richard continued their studies at Cornell University from 1994 to 1995, earning a Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering.
