Marten van Hulst began their work experience in 1995 as a Teaching Assistant at Universiteit Utrecht. Marten then worked as a Software Engineer at Lucent Technologies in 1996. From 1997 to 1999, they were a Sr. Comp. Design Engineer at Intel Corp., where they focused on formal verification of critical hardware components. At Philips/Handshake Solutions, Marten served as a Consultant from 1999 to 2003, working on benchmarking and evaluation of verification tools. Marten then became a Senior Design Engineer from 2003 to 2009, specializing in clockless designs using Haste. Since 2009, Marten has been with Intrinsic ID, initially as a Principal Hardware Engineer and currently as the Director of Business Development, leading the development of Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) technology for authentication purposes. Marten has played a significant role in establishing Intrinsic ID as a world leader in PUF-based authentication and has been involved in business ventures with major MCU companies and Government & Defense players in the EU and US. Marten's work experience reflects their expertise in hardware design, verification, and business development.
Marten van Hulst pursued their education in the field of Computer Science. Marten completed their Master's degree from Radboud University, where they studied from 1986 to 1990. Afterward, they continued their academic journey at Utrecht University, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computer Science between 1991 and 1995.
