Keros Therapeutics is a public, clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of novel treatments for patients suffering from hematological and musculoskeletal disorders with high unmet medical need. We are a leader in understanding the role of the transforming growth factor-beta, or TGF-ß, family of proteins, which are master regulators of red blood cell and platelet production as well as of the growth, repair and maintenance of muscle and bone. We have leveraged this understanding and developed a discovery approach to generate large and small molecules to address diseases of these tissues. Targeting TGF-ß signaling pathways has been clinically proven to elicit robust changes in blood cells, muscle, and bone, which we believe provides a precedent and strong rationale for our strategy.

Keros Therapeutics is seeking an SVP, Corporate Strategy, who will be a key member of the company’s Executive Team. The individual will be responsible for developing long-range strategic business plans for the company and working with the executive team and organization to translate that into investment and partnering plans to achieve Keros’s goals and objectives. This leader will understand the full range of the company’s assets and their potential, while having a complete understanding of the evolving competitive, regulatory, and commercial landscape.  This position will report to the President and COOThis individual will be a key strategic business partner to the executive team and will play an essential role in identifying, evaluating, and recommending business opportunities across our R+D portfolio that supports the overall strategic plan. The SVP, Corporate Strategy, is a key role for Keros Therapeutics and will be a major contributor in shaping the company's future success. As such, the successful candidate will be a dynamic and accomplished financial and business development leader ideally with an outstanding record of identifying, evaluating, and successfully negotiating and completing significant business transactions. 

 Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Work closely with the members of the senior management team to drive Keros’s corporate strategy and long-range plan based on the identification of opportunities for internal discovery and product development.
  • Contribute to Keros’s growth by leading key strategic partnerships and guiding business development.
  • Cultivate a strong and effective partnership with the R&D team to evaluate the potential of early-stage compounds and to integrate a commercial perspective early in the research and development process.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to develop technical, commercial, and financial assessment of all new business opportunities.
  • Provide overall executive leadership in creating and executing proactive global business strategies in support of Keros’ portfolio. Conceive of and execute strategic and creative methods for advancing business goals.
  • Uphold competitive intelligence by keeping up to date on market trends, competitors, and opportunities.
  • Responsible for the oversight and management of the Business Development and Corporate Development functions.
  • Serve as one of the spokespersons for the company by representing the company in its relationships with partners and in the business and financial communities.  

 Education and Qualifications: 

  • Advanced scientific degree preferred. MBA is a plus.
  • 15+ years of experience within the pharmaceuticals and biotechnology industry, leading business development and/or portfolio strategy
  • Proven track record of identifying opportunities and structuring, negotiating, and closing transactions including strategic alliances and licensing agreements. In-depth knowledge of financial analysis and corporate and product valuation is necessary to engineer such deals
  • Deep business and corporate development networks skills necessary to reach key executives in pharma/biotech who are prospects for strategic partnerships or other collaborations.
  • Extensive transactional experience with evidence of value creation
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced entrepreneurial company environment and become rapidly conversant with the company’s technology platforms, therapeutic products, and markets, and serve as a company spokesperson as required
  • Demonstrated leadership of projects/activities across a range of therapeutic areas/indications through successful execution
  • Exceptional communication and influence skills, with the ability to inspire and work successfully with varied audiences including industry partners, financial institutions, Board of Directors, fellow management, and employees, with a strong executive presence
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully establishing relationships with suppliers, partners, and other collaborations
  • Entrepreneurial, collaborative, energetic self-starter with strong interpersonal and analytical skills and proven ability to work effectively with senior management as a strategic partner
  • Ability to build and maintain key external relationships across key stakeholders. Ability to present effectively to groups and manage through others to ensure adherence to the highest quality standards, with the ability to collaborate and drive results
  • Strong problem-solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses. Ability to anticipate potential challenges to provide viable options and alternative paths to ensure a successful outcome
  • Strong scientific orientation and the ability to establish and maintain credibility with internal and external scientific and business experts
