Moritz Schularick

Moritz Schularick has held various roles in prestigious institutions throughout their career. Moritz currently serves as a professeur associé at INSTITUT D'ETUDES POLITIQUES DE PARIS - SCIENCES PO since 2021. From 2012 to 2023, they were the Director and Professor of Economics at The University of Bonn. Prior to that, they worked as an Assistant Vice President at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York from 2020 to 2021. Moritz also served as a Visiting Research Professor at NYU Stern School of Business from 2017 to 2021. Before these positions, Schularick was an Assistant Professor at Freie Universität Berlin from 2007 to 2012 and a Visiting Professor at the University of Cambridge in 2008-2009. Additionally, they hold the position of President at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy.

Moritz Schularick began their education at Université Paris Cité in 1998, where they earned a Maîtrise en sciences sociales. In 1999, they attended The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where they obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree with distinction. From 1995 to 2000, Schularick studied at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, earning a Master of Arts (MA) degree in History, Economics, and Politics. Finally, in 2005, they attended Freie Universität Berlin, where they completed their education and was awarded a Ph.D. in Economics (Dr. rer. pol.) with the highest distinction, "summa cum laude."
