Matt Vaughan

Matt Vaughan has a diverse range of work experience in the legal and tech industries. Matt is currently the EVP of Strategic Partnerships and Corporate Development at LawVu, a global SaaS company that provides a connected workflow platform for in-house legal teams. Prior to this, Matt was the Managing Director at FetchTech SEZC, where they invested in and provided advisory services to growth technology businesses. Some of the companies they worked with include LawVu, Passport Labs, Carta, Pushpay, and Invoice2Go.

Matt's previous experience includes being the General Counsel at Xero, a global leader in cloud accounting software. Matt played a crucial role in establishing and leading Xero's global legal and compliance functions during a period of rapid growth. Matt also built and managed legal teams in New Zealand, Australia, and the US, overseeing various legal and compliance functions.

Before Xero, Matt worked as a Consultant Legal Counsel at PwC and Charter Hall, where they provided legal expertise. Matt also gained valuable experience as an Attorney at Maples and Calder, specializing in multi-jurisdictional transactional matters for clients in North and South America. Additionally, Matt worked as a Lawyer and Paralegal at Henry Davis York, where they advised on general corporate matters and M&A transactions for Australian and international clients.

Matt Vaughan completed their Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree at Macquarie University from 1999 to 2003. In 2004, they obtained a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law. Matt further pursued their education in 2015 with short-term programs at both Harvard Business School and Stanford University Graduate School of Business, focusing on Leading Global Businesses and Executive Leadership Development, respectively.

During their undergraduate years at Macquarie University, from 1999 to 2003, Matt Vaughan also earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree. Matt briefly participated in an exchange program at The University of British Columbia in 2001, studying both Business Administration and Laws.

Additionally, Matt Vaughan holds various certifications as an attorney, including one from the State Bar of California and another from the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands. Matt is also registered as a solicitor with both the New Zealand Law Society and The Law Society of NSW, although these registrations are currently inactive.
