Diana Goncalves Schmidt

Diana Goncalves Schmidt is an Assistant Professor and Researcher at the Liquid Crystals Institute, Kent State University since May 2019. Previous research experience includes positions at Technische Universität Dresden (2017-2019), Leibniz-Institut für Polymerforschung Dresden (2013-2017), Goethe-Universität Frankfurt (2008-2010) as an Alexander von Humboldt postdoctoral fellow, and the University of Konstanz (2007-2008). Notable research work includes selective photothermal targeting of Glioblastoma Multiforme cancer stem cells, synthesis of hydrogels for biological applications, and the development of photoreversible molecules for DNA interactions. Diana Goncalves Schmidt earned a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Cambridge (2003-2006) and a first degree in Chemistry and Food Biochemistry from Universidade de Aveiro (1998-2002).
