Philippe Nivelle

Solar Research Track Lead at Lightyear

Philippe Nivelle has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Philippe started their career as a Magazijnmedewerker at SKF Group in 2010 and continued in the same role in 2011 and 2012. In 2013, they worked as an Onderhoudstechnicus at Vandersanden Group and as a Productiemedewerker at Hegge Invest NV in 2015.

In 2016, Philippe joined Hasselt University as a PhD researcher, focusing on the reliability of photovoltaic modules. Philippe developed a state-of-the-art finite element framework to investigate failure at different length scales. During their time at the university, they also conducted research on component level failure in Si and GaN switching devices. Philippe successfully completed their PhD in 2020.

From 2020 to 2022, Philippe worked at EnergyVille as a Researcher and Project Manager. In this role, they contributed to the Energy Systems Engineering team at UHasselt and the PV cell and modules team at imec. Philippe provided thermo-mechanical simulation and investigation services to industrial partners and European projects. Philippe also managed research assets and monitored progress within the team.

Currently, Philippe works at Lightyear as a Solar Research Engineer and is expected to assume the role of Solar Research Track Lead in 2023.

Philippe Nivelle completed their post-graduate studies in Business Administration at UHasselt from 2017 to 2018. Prior to that, they pursued a master's degree in Industrial Sciences with a focus on Electromechanics at KU Leuven, from 2013 to 2016. Before their master's, Philippe obtained a professional bachelor's degree in Electromechanics with honors from Katholieke Hogeschool Limburg, spanning from 2009 to 2013. Aside from their formal education, they hold a certification in VCA-vol, but the details surrounding the institution and the year of obtaining are not provided.
