I am a product of Christian education. I attended Lynden Christian K-12 and graduated in 1997. I spent the next four years in Sioux Center, Iowa attending Dordt College. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education with a reading minor. After graduating from Dordt, I taught 3rd grade for five years at Ontario Christian in Ontario, California. I began teaching 3rd grade at Lynden Christian in 2006. I love being back in Washington!
Being able to teach at a Christian school is such a privilege. Henry Adams once said, “A teacher affects eternity; he can never know where his influence stops.” As a teacher in a Christian school, that quote has so much more meaning. We have the privilege of teaching from a curriculum that centers on Jesus Christ and the Bible. The link between Christian home, school, and church is so important. Children need that consistency in these three important facets of their lives.
My favorite Bible verse is Psalm 121, specifically verse 7—“The Lord will keep you from all harm—He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forever more.” It’s such a comfort to know that no matter where I am and what’s going on, the Lord is there and watching over me.
When I’m not at school, I enjoy attempting to keep my garden alive, reading, and spending time with my family. I also volunteer at First Reformed Church and serve on the board for Camp Shiloh.
