I grew up in Grand Rapids, MI. I attended Grand Valley State University studying to be a physical therapist; however, the Lord had different plans for my life. I met and married my husband, Del, and moved across the country to Lynden, WA. We are blessed with three children, Zach, Logan and Kiley, all of whom attended Lynden Christian Schools.
Once Kiley started school, I was ready to return to work but uncertain of where. I had been doing a lot of volunteering at church–teaching Wednesday night classes and Sunday School and working with High School Youth Group. After a lot of prayer and searching for the Lord’s will, I decided to return to school to pursue a teaching degree. I graduated from Western Washington University in 2012 with a BaEd. I taught Chemistry at Blaine High School for eight years before teaching Chemistry and Physics at Lynden Christian High School. I love teaching science and want my students to get excited about science as well. It’s rewarding to hear from former students who are pursuing degrees in science because of their high school science classes.
I pray that I am a light for Jesus here at the high school. In all the ups and downs of life, I pray that Jesus will be at the center. What a comfort that brings.
