Kelly Beckett

Kelly Beckett serves as Captain at the Madison Police Department, overseeing patrol and investigative operations for the West District, managing a staff of 45 and supporting about 60,000 residents. Prior roles include Lieutenant, where responsibilities involved supervising patrol operations and grant management, and Detective Sergeant, overseeing case assignments. Kelly began in law enforcement as a Patrol Officer, addressing community needs and managing criminal investigations. Earlier career experiences include roles as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and as a Content Editor/Researcher for Hungry Minds/IDG Books. Kelly holds multiple degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, including a Certified Public Manager credential and several Master’s degrees in Educational Psychology and Environmental Sciences.
