Leona Lillian Abban

Leona Lillian Abban has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning various roles and companies. Leona Lillian is currently serving as the Vice President of Operations and Country Manager at MIC Global since October 2021. Prior to that, they worked as a Country Manager at Micro Insurance Company from February 2020.

In 2018, Leona became an Associate Member at the Insurance Incubation Lab, organized by Access to Insurance Initiative, IAIS, Global Diplomacy Lab, and GIZ. Leona Lillian held this role until February 2022.

From 2011 to 2020, Leona worked at Micro Insurance Company, where they started as an Account Executive at MicroEnsure Ghana. Later, they became the Acting Country Manager during the Transition Period and then served as a Client Relationship Manager. Their responsibilities included delivering value to corporate partners, conducting product and service audits, and tailoring Microinsurance products to meet client needs.

Before joining Micro Insurance Company, Leona was an Underwriting Officer at Prime Insurance Company from November 2007 to September 2011. Leona Lillian also held the position of Underwriting and Business Development Officer at Prime Insurance Company Limited during the same period. In these roles, they assessed client risk, drafted contracts, quoted renewal premiums, and engaged in cross-selling activities.

Leona's work experience also includes a role as an Assistant Treasury Executive at Harvest Chapel International from 2003 to 2007.

Throughout their career, Leona has been involved in innovative thinking and collaboration as part of the Diverse Group at Global Diplomacy Lab from February 2018 to February 2019.

Leona Lillian Abban has a diverse educational background with a focus on project management, fisheries and aquatic science, and biology. In 2019-2020, they pursued a certification in Project Management from Simplilearn Alumni. Prior to that, from 2003 to 2007, they attended the University of Cape Coast, earning a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Fisheries and Aquatic Science. Additionally, from 1999 to 2001, they attended Ghana National College, where they obtained a Science degree with a field of study in Biology, General. Leona Lillian Abban also holds additional certifications in Critical Thinking for Better Judgment and Decision-Making from LinkedIn, obtained in February 2020, and Strategic Thinking from LinkedIn, obtained in January 2020.
