Amer Alagic

Amer Alagic, PhD MBA, has extensive work experience in research and development, particularly in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Amer started their career as a Consultant at Apotex Inc. in 2002, where they identified the activity of a drug candidate for a thrombosis project. Amer then moved on to CardioGenics Inc. in 2004, where they managed research in clinical cardiology and developed patented products for quick heart attack diagnosis. Subsequently, they joined Microbix Biosystems Inc. in 2007, serving as a Senior Product Specialist/Application Scientist before becoming the Director of Research and Development in 2014. In their roles, they led project teams, developed new products, conducted market analysis, and successfully increased revenues. Throughout their career, they have published research articles, presented at conferences, and established collaborative relationships with industry and academic groups.

Amer Alagic, PhD MBA, holds a Hon.B.Sc in Biological Chemistry from the University of Toronto (1995-1998), an M.Sc in Biological Chemistry from the University of Toronto (1998-2000), a Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry from the University of Toronto (2000-2004), and a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Business Administration and Management from the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management (2012-2014). Additionally, they have obtained certifications in ISO 13485:2016 and ISO 9001:2015 from Alison in 2023.
