Benjamin Burch

Benjamin Burch has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Benjamin is currently working at Midwest Employers Casualty (a Berkley Company) as the Director of Data Science since July 2021. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Data Scientist from February 2020 to July 2021 at the same company. Benjamin started their journey as a Data Scientist at Midwest Employers Casualty in March 2016 and remained in that role until February 2020.

In addition to their industry experience, Benjamin worked as an Associate Professor of Data Science at Maryville University of Saint Louis in 2018. Before that, they were a Research Data Scientist at Mercy from November 2015 to March 2016. Benjamin also has experience as a Predictive Information Analyst and Senior Predictive Information Analyst at Midwest Employers Casualty Company (a W. R. Berkley Company) from April 2014 to November 2015.

Early in their career, Benjamin worked at Washington University in St. Louis as a Graduate Research Assistant from September 2006 to December 2013. Benjamin also co-founded the Physics Outreach Committee and served as a Teaching Assistant during their time there. Benjamin started their professional journey as a Warehouse Technician at Ambius in 2006. Benjamin also worked as a SURE Research Fellow at Carthage College in 2005 and as a Main Switchboard Operator at Central DuPage Hospital from May 2003 to November 2003.

Benjamin Burch has a strong educational background in physics and mathematics. Benjamin obtained their Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Physics from Carthage College in 2006. Benjamin then went on to pursue their Master's and PhD degrees in Physics from Washington University in St. Louis, completing their studies in 2013. In addition to their formal education, they also obtained certifications in Big Data Professional from Arcitura Education Inc. in 2015, and in Machine Learning and Data Analysis and Statistical Inference from Coursera in 2014.
