William Grand

Software Engineer at MORSE

William Grand has a diverse work experience in various technical roles. William started their career as an intern at Aurora Flight Sciences in 2002. William then worked as a Robotics Technician at Barrett Technology for a brief period in 2004. In 2005, they became a Robotics Engineer at both MIT Media Lab's Biomechatronics Group, where they worked on exoskeletons, and at Boston Dynamics, where they contributed to the design of the BigDog robot.

In 2006, William joined DesignBlox as a Web Developer, where they developed interactive web apps and the interface for an advertising platform. This experience sparked their passion for bringing design and technology together. In 2008, they founded their own micro-business called Grand Interactive and served as the Founder & CEO until 2016. During this time, they developed numerous Android and iOS apps, including biotech apps and apps using Unity3D for interactive models.

From 2016 to 2023, William worked at Octo Telematics, starting as a Senior Mobile Developer and then progressing to Digital Director of Mobile and eventually becoming the Digital R&D Director of Mobile. In these roles, they developed various software solutions, including the implementation of an energy-efficient algorithm for detecting distracted driving and the development of mobile apps for insurance companies.

Currently, William is serving as the Android Software Task Lead at MORSE Corp, starting in 2023.

William Grand obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1999 to 2003. William then pursued further studies at Harvard University, where they earned a Master of Science (M.S.) in Engineering Sciences from 2003 to 2004. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications including "State Estimation and Localization for Self-Driving Cars," "Introduction to Self-Driving Cars," "Vector Calculus for Engineers," "AI For Everyone," "Differential Equations for Engineers," and "Matrix Algebra for Engineers" from Coursera Course Certificates between 2022 and 2023.
