Gary H. Gibbons

Dr. Gary H. Gibbons is the current director of the National Heart, Lung & Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health. Gary has held this position since 2016. Prior to this, they were the director of the National Human Genome Research Institute at the National Institutes of Health from 2013 to 2016.

Dr. Gibbons received their medical degree from the University of Bristol in 2014 and their PhD from the University of Leicester in 2013. Gary has been a research associate at both institutions. Their research focuses on genetics and genomics, with a particular interest in understanding the causes of cardiovascular disease.

Gary H. Gibbons has a PhD in Genetic Epidemiology from the University of Leicester, a Master of Science in Bioinformatics from the University of Leicester, and a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology from Hochschule Mannheim. Gary also has a degree from the University of Bristol.
