Barry McClanahan has extensive work experience in student affairs and campus life. Barry currently serves as the Vice President for Student Affairs at Newberry College. Prior to their current role, they held various positions at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, including Chief Student Affairs Officer, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, Executive Director for Campus Life, Director for Housing & Residence Life, Associate Dean, and Director for Greek Affairs. Before their time at Shippensburg University, McClanahan worked as a Residence Coordinator at UNC Charlotte and as a Residence Director at Appalachian State University.
Barry McClanahan pursued their education at King University from 1983 to 1987, where they completed their Bachelor's degree in History and Psychology. Later, they attended Appalachian State University from 1987 to 1989, earning their Master's degree in Human Development and Psychological Counseling.
