Jerry Walsh

SVP, Local Content Development at Nexstar Media Group

Jerry Walsh has served as Vice President of Local Content Development since April of 2017. In his current role, Mr. Walsh works directly with content operations in New York, Connecticut, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Indiana, Missouri, North Carolina, and Florida to maximize local content opportunities on all platforms. He also oversees the Nexstar’s Washington, D.C. bureau and the company’s content research projects. In addition, Mr. Walsh played a key role in developing Nexstar’s strategies for state capitol/legislative bureaus, local coverage from the Washington, D.C. bureau, and major event coverage including the Olympics, Super Bowl, political conventions, and elections.

Mr. Walsh joined the Nexstar corporate team in July of 2011 as the Director of Local Content Development. From 2007-2011, he was News Director at Nexstar station WROC in Rochester, NY. Under Mr. Walsh’s leadership in Rochester, the station grew television ratings, digital audience, expanded newscasts and earned several journalism awards.

Prior to joining Nexstar, Mr. Walsh held news positions in Utica, NY and Albany, NY. Since starting his career in 1992, he has held positions ranging from photographer to producer to news director. He is a past Chairman of the Radio Television Digital News Association and the Radio Television Digital News Association.
