Gabriella Azzopardi, PhD, has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering and technical consulting.
Gabriella currently works at Nexthink as a Software Engineer, where they are responsible for developing the next generation of Data Platform and transitioning the company to a cloud-only environment. Gabriella designs, implements, delivers, and validates cloud-native microservices for a high-scalable SaaS platform. Gabriella also analyzes performance bottlenecks and stability issues.
Prior to their current role, Gabriella worked at CERN, starting in 2016. Gabriella'sroles at CERN include Technical Consultant, Full Stack Engineer, Senior Software Engineer, and Software Engineer. As a Technical Consultant, they co-developed a web application during the COVID-19 pandemic to safely bring people back on site, which was used by over 1,000 users worldwide. As a Full Stack Engineer, they were involved in the development of various web applications. As a Senior Software Engineer, they were responsible for the controls of over 100 protection devices in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and led the setup of protection devices. In their initial role as a Software Engineer, they designed and implemented new infrastructure and introduced machine learning for automation in LHC operation.
Before joining CERN, Gabriella had an internship as a Software Engineer at CERN in 2015, where they configured Docker on an Openstack cluster to optimize the execution of analytics algorithms.
Gabriella'searly career includes a role as a Junior Software Engineer at HOB Software, where they maintained an internal web application and redesigned its user interface.
Throughout their work experience, Gabriella has utilized various programming languages and tools such as Java, Python, C/C++, Oracle SQL, Java Swing, R, Docker, Openstack, JavaScript, AJAX, and DB2.
Gabriella Azzopardi, PhD, has an extensive education history in the field of Computer Science. Gabriella obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Computer Science from the University of Malta between 2016 and 2019. Prior to that, they completed their Master's Degree in Computer Science at the same university from 2015 to 2016. Additionally, Gabriella earned their Bachelor's Degree in Computing Science from the University of Malta between 2012 and 2015.
In addition to their degrees, Gabriella also holds two additional certifications. In March 2014, they completed a Basic Course in Digital Game Development using Unity 3D at the University of Malta. Furthermore, in October 2012, they obtained a Degree+ in Entrepreneurship, also from the University of Malta.
