Margrethe Esaiassen

Margrethe Esaiassen is a distinguished professional in the field of seafood science, currently serving as a Senior Scientist at Nofima since March 2022 and holding a position as a Board Member at Tekna since June 2019. Esaiassen has an extensive academic career as a Professor at the University of Tromsø - The Arctic University of Norway since June 2013, also contributing as an Associate Professor and Board Member within the Faculty of Biosciences, Fisheries, and Economics. Prior roles include Senior Scientist at Nofima, where Esaiassen worked from September 2004 to June 2013, focusing on seafood and consumer science, and a post-doctoral position at the University of Tromsø from August 2002 to September 2004. Educational achievements include a PhD in Seafood Science and Marine Biochemistry from UiT- The Arctic University of Norway and a Master's degree in Biotechnology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). Additionally, Esaiassen chaired the NORSK ISLANDSHEST FORENING from March 2010 to March 2015 and has served in various board member capacities throughout the professional career.
