Frederic Pelletier

Chief Scientist for Space Situational Awareness at NorthStar Earth & Space

Frederic Pelletier has a diverse range of work experience in the aerospace industry. Frederic most recently served as the Chief Scientist for Space Situational Awareness at NorthStar Earth & Space Inc. starting in August 2022. Before that, they held the position of Technical Director at the same company from October 2018 to July 2022. In 2018, they also became the President and CEO of Ursa Major Navigation.

Prior to these roles, Pelletier worked at KinetX Aerospace, Inc. as a Navigateur Interplanétaire from June 2013 to February 2019. Frederic also served as the President of KinetX Aérospatiale International from December 2013 to March 2018.

Frederic'searlier work experience includes roles at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where they were the Orbit Determination Lead from May 2008 to June 2013, and a Guidance Navigation & Control Engineer from January 2005 to June 2008.

Pelletier was a member of AIAA from 2000 to 2011 and worked as an Astrodynamics Engineer at the Canadian Space Agency from February 2002 to December 2004. Frederic also gained research experience as a Research Assistant at the Center for Space Studies CISAS in 2001 and The University of Texas at Austin in 1999.

Frederic'sfirst professional experience was as a Co-op Engineer at CAE, where they simulated the Space Shuttle Remote Manipulator System and studied robotic control systems in 1998.

Frederic Pelletier completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Université Laval, which they attended from 1995 to 1998. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science in Engineering degree in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, which they completed from 1999 to 2000.
