Athina Lawson

Athina Lawson currently serves as Press Secretary for the Office of the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, a position held since January 2024. Prior to this role, Lawson was Deputy Communications Director for the U.S. House of Representatives from March 2023 to January 2024, focusing on the Committee on Appropriations. Lawson's experience includes serving as Director at PLUS Communications, Senior Associate in Public Affairs at FP1 Strategies, LLC, and Staff Assistant at Winning For Women. Earlier positions included Finance Coordinator for Taylor/Estruth for Ohio, Legislative Assistant for the National Federation of Independent Business, and Policy Aide to the Director of Policy in the Ohio House Speaker's Office, among others. Lawson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Affairs with a focus on Management, Leadership, and Policy from the John Glenn College of Public Affairs at The Ohio State University, and graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School.
