Kirsten Burton has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Kirsten is currently working as a Principal Software Engineer, Front End at Ollie since May 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer, Front End at Ollie from February 2022 to May 2023.
From 2017 to 2022, Kirsten was employed at GAMCO Investors, Inc. During this time, they held the role of Senior Software Engineer from January 2020 to February 2022. Kirsten successfully delivered multiple production full-stack applications and was involved in a complete upgrade of the firm's flagship website. Kirsten also modernized the back-end technology infrastructure and supported various departments with custom tooling and analytics findings. Kirsten utilized technologies such as JavaScript, React.js, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, AWS, and Nginx.
Prior to joining GAMCO Investors, Inc., Kirsten founded World Macro, LLC in 2016 and worked as a Founder & Software Engineer until December 2019. Kirsten was responsible for delivering MVPs and designing project architecture, including creating a full-stack Rails subscription-based web app and integrating payment and customer management systems.
In 2015, Kirsten worked at Canaan Technology LLC as a General Technician, where they programmed and deployed IT and AV solutions for residential, retail, and corporate clients. Kirsten designed custom data storage solutions, managed IT solutions, and developed communication compliance solutions.
Before that, Kirsten worked as a Trading Analyst at Greenwich Harbour Capital from October 2013 to October 2014, where they supported trading operations and developed trading models and automated CSV files using VBA. Kirsten also had a brief role as a Special Events staff member at the New York State Senate from December 2013 to April 2014.
Kirsten's earlier experience includes working as an Associate Vice President in the Macro Options Group at Marex Spectron from September 2012 to August 2013, an Investment Analyst at Managed Capital Advisory Group from July 2008 to May 2011, and various roles at Citi from September 2004 to July 2008, including Trading Analyst in the Financial Futures Sales Desk and the Managed Futures Desk.
Throughout their career, Kirsten has utilized a range of technologies, including Ruby on Rails, React.js, Next.js, Redux, React Native, JavaScript, AWS, Nginx, PostgreSQL, Git, Restful APIs, Perl, and Cold Fusion. Kirsten has demonstrated success in delivering projects, leading teams, and contributing to the modernization of technology infrastructure.
Kirsten Burton attended the Flatiron School from 2015 to 2016, where they studied Full Stack Web Development. Prior to that, they studied at Hofstra University from 1998 to 2004 and obtained a BBA degree in General Business. Additionally, they obtained certification in Series 3 from the NFA in June 2006.
