Sean Cooney

Sean Cooney has a diverse work experience in the field of mechanical engineering. Sean is currently working at Optikos Corporation since 2017, where they started as an Associate Mechanical Engineer and then transitioned to the role of Mechanical Engineer. Sean is currently serving as a Senior Mechanical Engineer.

Prior to their time at Optikos Corporation, they worked at Baja SAE Northeastern from 2012 to 2017. During their tenure, they held the position of Captain and Project Manager, leading a team of 25+ members and overseeing the design process and competition of 3 Baja SAE vehicles. Sean also served as the Suspension Design Lead, where they utilized SolidWorks to model suspension kinematic motion, designed suspension components using FEA models, and managed the implementation of a rack and pinion steering system.

Sean Cooney gained valuable experience through their co-op positions at Digital Lumens, Analogic, and Advanced Radiation Therapy. These positions allowed him to apply their mechanical engineering skills and contribute to various projects.

Sean Cooney attended Holy Ghost Preparatory School from 2009 to 2012, where they completed their high school education. Afterward, they enrolled in Northeastern University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2017. During their time at Northeastern University, Sean also pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Mechanics and Design, which they completed in 2017 as well.
