Marilyn Johnson has a diverse work experience that spans over two decades. Marilyn started their career as a Science Director at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) in 1996. During their time at OMSI, Marilyn managed research and development for new exhibits, programs, and grant proposals. Marilyn also served as a Principal Investigator or Co-PI on several grants to create new museum initiatives. In 2015, Marilyn moved on to explore new opportunities as a Wandering Gardener, Writer, and Knitter at Wherever the Spirit Calls. In this role, they engaged in various activities such as developing activities, grants, programs, partnerships, and relationships. Marilyn is passionate about seeking new adventures, connecting with nature, and leaving a positive impact on the world. Marilyn may still dabble in professional tasks occasionally but mostly lets their spirit fly free.
Marilyn Johnson has a strong educational background in the field of Nutrition. Marilyn obtained their PhD in Nutrition from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1991, after completing their Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and PhD in Microbiology (and Anthropology), Nutrition (biochem emphasis) from the University of Washington between 1970 and 1989.
