Leonardo Oliveira Lima Santiago has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Leonardo started their career in 2007 as the owner of LS Consultoria, where they worked until 2012. In 2007, they also joined Geonature Serviços em Meio Ambiente as the Project Director & Associate, and they held this position until 2014.
Leonardo then joined WayCarbon in 2014, where they initially worked as a Researcher for a few months before becoming the Operations & Team Manager. In this role, they were responsible for planning and monitoring projects and managing the team. Additionally, they led the development of LicenTIa, a web-based software that facilitates the environmental licensing process. Leonardo worked at WayCarbon until 2017.
In 2018, Leonardo founded LicenTIa as a spinoff of WayCarbon. As the Founder of LicenTIa, they developed a web-based software that optimizes the reuse of environmental information and offers a License Management system for better project governance. Leonardo continued working at LicenTIa until 2022.
After their time at LicenTIa, Leonardo joined WayCarbon again in 2021 as a Sustainability Coordinator. In this role, they were part of the consulting team, helping companies quantify the impacts of sustainability and develop agroforestry agendas. Leonardo remained at WayCarbon until 2022 when they started a new position as the Carbon Project Success Manager LATAM at Pachama.
Throughout their career, Leonardo has gained experience in corporate sustainability, low carbon economy, GIS, climate change projects, and project management.
Leonardo Oliveira Lima Santiago has a diverse educational background in the fields of environmental studies, geography, and engineering.
From 2008 to 2009, Leonardo pursued a Master's degree in Environmental Studies at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. During this program, their studies focused on environmental studies and the analysis of the natural environment.
Prior to that, from 2004 to 2007, Leonardo completed their undergraduate degree in Geography at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. Leonardo'sfield of study during this time was geography.
Before their geography degree, Leonardo attended the Universidade FUMEC - Oficial from 2002 to 2007, where they obtained a degree in Environmental Engineering. Leonardo'sstudies in this program encompassed environmental studies and engineering.
In addition to their formal education, Leonardo has also obtained certifications to further enhance their knowledge and skills. In July 2021, they completed the certification program "Introdução ao Direito das Mudanças Climáticas" at the IBDE - Instituto Brasileiro de Estudos do Direito da Energia. Additionally, in October 2018, they participated in the "Programa de Desenvolvimento de Startups" at the Fundação Dom Cabral.
