Pengrong Yan

Pengrong Yan has a strong background in scientific research and drug discovery. Pengrong is currently working as a Principal Scientist in the Biology department at PAQ Therapeutics since March 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Principal Scientist in Cell and Molecular Biology at Syros Pharmaceuticals from January 2022 to March 2023, where they were responsible for leading preclinical discovery projects and establishing capabilities for various assays.

Before joining Syros Pharmaceuticals, Pengrong Yan worked at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for several years. Pengrong started as a Research Scholar in 2011 and later became a Senior Research Scientist. During their time there, they led the development of chemical tools, established a mouse cancer model for immune profiling, and conducted proteomic and NGS analyses on primary specimens and cells.

Pengrong Yan began their career as a PhD candidate and Research Assistant at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where they focused on studying the crosstalk between autophagy and NF-κB signaling in cancer and identified novel mechanisms for Hsp90 client protein degradation. Pengrong also discovered PDLIM2 as a regulator of HTLV-I oncoprotein Tax.

Pengrong Yan's academic background includes being a PhD candidate at Rutgers University, where they conducted research.

Pengrong Yan completed a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Biological and Biomedical Sciences from Fudan University from 2001 to 2005. Later, from 2007 to 2010, they pursued further education at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, completing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
