Kausik Rajgopal is PayPal’s Executive Vice President of People and Sourcing, leading the company’s global Human Resources (HR), Procurement, Real Estate, and Payments Markets & Partnerships (PM&P) teams. Drawing on nearly 20 years of experience, Kausik offers a unique blend of senior leadership expertise in human resources, technology, and payments to this role.
The HR team is responsible for global workforce planning, talent acquisition and evaluation, compensation, benefits, payroll, learning and development, as well as culture, diversity, and inclusion initiatives. The Procurement team stewards global supplier relationships and manages spend across all categories, ranging from technology to marketing. In partnership with the HR and Procurement teams, the Real Estate team helps shape PayPal’s approach to the future of work, including optimization of real estate footprints and formats to support an inclusive culture and flexible work models. Kausik also oversees PayPal’s Payments Markets & Partnerships (PM&P) team, which is responsible for developing and deepening the company’s global strategic partnerships across the payments and banking sectors. He also serves as the co-Executive Champion of Unity, the company’s community of women and allies working together to empower women at PayPal.
Prior to joining PayPal, Kausik served as a Senior Partner with McKinsey & Company leading the development of high-performing HR, Procurement, and other functions for global companies across industries and sectors. Most recently, he was the firm’s co-Managing Partner for the United States office, where he was responsible for client service across all industry sectors, as well as its people priorities and initiatives, including contributing to efforts that significantly increased the hiring and advancement of women and underrepresented groups.
Kausik also helped advance and scale McKinsey’s Fintech efforts in his time with the firm. He co-founded the Digital Payments Practice in 2005, led the firm’s global Payments Practice for five years from 2011 to 2016, and served as McKinsey’s global Fintech co-lead. In these roles, he worked with banks, merchants, technology, and payments players around the world.
He serves as Chair of the Board and Executive Committee of the Bay Area Council and is on the Leadership Council of California Forward. He was previously a board member for the World Affairs Council, the San Francisco Symphony, and the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity at Stanford University.
Kausik earned his MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar and now serves as Vice Chair of the Advisory Council. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and Science in Political Science and Industrial Engineering from Stanford University.
