Martin Decaris

Sr. Director, Translational Sciences at Pliant Therapeutics

Martin Decaris has a strong background in scientific research and development. Martin began their career as a Staff Research Associate at UCSF Department of Medicine, where they worked for three years. Martin then joined UC Davis as a Graduate Researcher and Postdoctoral Fellow, focusing on in vivo drug delivery applications and stem cell differentiation. During this time, they also completed a Stem Cell Training Program. Martin then moved on to KineMed, Inc., where they held the role of Scientist I in Biomarker Development. In this position, they led the development of protein biomarker assays and managed research projects with external companies and academic labs. Martin also established SOPs to enhance assay robustness and supervised research associates and interns. Currently, Martin is a Director of Translational Biology at Pliant Therapeutics.

Martin Decaris attended the University of California, Berkeley from 1997 to 2001, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Bioengineering. Later, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biomedical Engineering at the University of California, Davis from 2006 to 2012.
