Annie Z. Yu has a diverse work experience in the field of journalism. Annie started their career as a reporting intern at Tri-City Voice and later joined The Daily Caller and The Washington Times as reporting interns as well. During this time, they gained experience in politics, world news, entertainment, and conducted research.
In 2013, Annie worked at The Clause as a News Editor and later became the Editor-in-chief. Annie led the student newsroom to its first-ever national awards and implemented changes to speed up the publishing schedule, shift to digital first, and expand social media platforms. Annie also won multiple awards for their own writing, including a Los Angeles Press Club award and being named one of the best student writers.
Annie then worked as a city hall reporter at The Arizona Republic and a reporting intern at Orange County Register before joining ProPublica as an Audience Engagement Fellow. Annie furthered their career as an Audience Engagement Editor at Los Angeles Times before eventually joining POLITICO as the Director of Engagement. In this role, they built the newsroom's first-ever audience engagement team, oversaw social storytelling and off-platform distribution, and collaborated with editors and reporters on storytelling and engagement opportunities.

Annie Z. Yu completed a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Azusa Pacific University. Annie also participated in a semester-long journalism program in Washington, D.C. offered by the Washington Journalism Center, Council of Christian Colleges & Universities.
