Mark Bunbury Jr., SHRM-SCP has a diverse professional background with experience in various roles and organizations. Mark started their career at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP as a Summer Associate in 2009. Mark then worked as a Law Clerk in the Family Part of the Superior Court of New Jersey, where they drafted legal memoranda and reviewed motions concerning matrimonial law.
In 2011, Mark joined DeCotiis, FitzPatrick & Cole, LLP as a Labor and Employment Associate. In this role, they drafted employee handbooks and policies, advised clients on employee performance and termination, conducted internal investigations, and actively litigated cases involving discrimination and retaliation claims.
In 2015, Mark transitioned to the public sector and joined the City of Jersey City as the Deputy Director of HR and Equal Employment Opportunity Officer. As the Deputy Director of HR, they advised on various HR functions such as employee relations, policy review, recruitment, and strategic planning. In their role as the EEO/AA Officer, they ensured a discrimination-free workplace through investigations and workplace trainings.
After their tenure in the City of Jersey City, Mark moved to Proskauer Rose LLP, initially serving as the Associate Director of Human Resources from October 2019 to December 2021. Mark then advanced to the role of Associate Director of Diversity and Inclusion from January 2022 to September 2022. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Throughout their career, Mark has demonstrated expertise in HR functions, diversity and inclusion initiatives, labor and employment law, and litigation. Mark holds the SHRM-SCP certification, indicating their proficiency in strategic HR management.
Mark Bunbury Jr., SHRM-SCP, pursued their education in a strategic HR leadership program at Cornell University from 2017 to 2020, specializing in human resources management and personnel administration. Mark also earned a compensation certificate from Cornell University in 2018-2019. Prior to that, Mark obtained a J.D. with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2010 and a B.A. with distinction in Political Science from Penn State University in 2006.
In addition to their academic degrees, Mark has obtained multiple certifications. Mark became a Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) through SHRM in 2020. Mark also holds certifications in negotiation, arbitration, and conflict resolution, labor and employment law, public sector labor relations, and is a Senior Certified Professional through IPMA-HR.
