JeongIn Gug, Ph.D.

Manager - FMET (formulation, Manufacturing, Engineering & Technology) at Provivi

JeongIn Gug, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience starting from their role as a Platoon Leader in the Republic of Korea Marine Corps, where they managed logistics and contributed to the success of Ulchi-Freedom Guardian drill. They then worked as a Research Assistant at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology, participating in research on elastic conductors and composite materials. Afterwards, they became a Researcher and Ph.D. student at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where they conducted experiments on copolymerization reactions and characterization of bio-plastics. They also worked on blending recycled PET and Nylon 6,6, and aided in the processing of PHA/PLA blends. Subsequently, JeongIn Gug served as a Volunteer Postdoctoral Scientist at Virginia Tech, contributing to the development of composite materials for lightweight automotive parts and 3-D printing applications. They then joined Birla Carbon as a Development Chemist, focusing on plastics and formulation. Currently, JeongIn Gug is a Senior Scientist at Provivi, Inc., specializing in formulation.

JeongIn Gug, Ph.D. obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Polymer/Plastics Engineering from Inha University in the years 2004 to 2008. Later, from 2011 to 2013, they completed a Master of Science (MS) degree in the same field at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. JeongIn Gug then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Polymer/Plastics Engineering from 2013 to 2016, also at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. In terms of additional certifications, they received a certification in "Design and Analysis of Experiments" from Quality Associates, Inc. in August 2019, and a certification in "Plastics Materials" from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in September 2013.
