Karen Mender has extensive experience in marketing communications and publishing. Currently serving as the Marketing Communications Coordinator at Friends of NYC Nurse-Family Partnership since April 2017, Karen also works as an Independent Publishing Consultant for Publishers Weekly since June 2009. Notably, Karen co-founded the Self-Publishing Book Expo, which became the premier annual event dedicated to self-published authors. Previous roles include Vice President Deputy Publisher at Atria Books from 2000 to 2005, where marketing efforts were orchestrated for bestselling authors, and Vice President Associate Publisher, Executive Director of Marketing at Dell/Delacorte Press from 1996 to 1999, overseeing successful marketing campaigns for renowned authors. Karen's career in publishing began at HarperCollins Publishers, where significant marketing leadership was provided from 1988 to 1996.
