Kate Gates has a diverse work experience that spans several industries. Kate has held various roles at different organizations. From 2008 to 2013, they worked as a Medicaid Waiver Case Manager at LifeSpan Resources Inc. In 2008, they also briefly served as a Course Coordinator at Kentucky Refugee Ministries. In 2011, they worked as a Consultant at Practical Action, where they completed consultancy work and created a model for assessing project success. At Cardinal McCloskey Community Services, they worked from 2013 to 2016, first as a Health Care Integrator and later as a Health Care Integrator Supervisor. Kate coached staff, developed a training program, and ensured legal compliance. Since 2016, Kate has been working at the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. Kate started as the Manager of Volunteer Programs and progressed to Director and then Senior Director of Programs. In 2021, they were appointed as the Vice President of Advocacy and Programs. In this role, they provide strategic direction, develops government affairs programs, builds relationships with partners, and reaches thousands of respiratory patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals annually.

Kate Gates received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology and International Studies from Taylor University, which they attended from 2004 to 2008. In 2011-2012, they attended The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and earned a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Development Management.
