Afrah Abdullah

Afrah Abdullah has extensive experience in public service and community engagement. Currently serving as Lid gemeenteraad for Gemeente Leeuwarden since April 2022 and as a Kandidaad Raadslid for PvdA since October 2021, Afrah is actively involved in local governance. With nearly 30 years of experience as a freelance translator, Afrah has worked to bridge gaps between diverse communities. Previous roles include Intercultureel Medewerker at Stichting Re-Care from April 2018 to January 2021, supporting clients in their reintegration processes, and Opvangmedewerker A at Centraal Orgaan opvang asielzoekers (COA) from January 1992 to January 2006, where responsibilities included assisting asylum seekers. Educational background includes studies at Noorderpoort from 1996 to 1999.
