Jamie Cochran-Smith Rpa

Jamie Cochran-Smith, RPA has a diverse work experience in the field of cultural resource management and archaeology. From 2001 to 2005, Jamie worked as a Data Conversion Operator at the United States Postal Service. Jamie then pursued a career in archaeology, working as a Secretary/Field Technician and later as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Ball State University from 2006 to 2007.

From 2009 to 2014, Jamie worked as a Staff Archaeologist at Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), where they supervised field crews and conducted archaeological surveys and excavations. During this time, Jamie also identified, cataloged, and curated artifacts for various projects.

In 2016, Jamie joined Crawford Media Services, Inc. as a Metadata Writer, and in 2017, they transitioned to a new role as Vice President of Cultural Resources at RESCOM Environmental Corp, where Jamie was responsible for managing archaeological and historical projects. They also developed and taught classes in archaeology related to cultural resource management.

Jamie's most recent work experience is at Purdue University Fort Wayne, starting in 2020, where they serve as a Professor of Practice in the Department of Anthropology and Sociology. In this role, they have focused on developing a certificate program in Cultural Resource Management and have been the Principal Investigator for two National Park Service Historic Preservation Fund grants.

Jamie Cochran-Smith, RPA, holds a Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) degree from Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis, which was completed in 2020. Prior to this, Jamie completed a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Anthropology from Ball State University in 2011. The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Anthropology was obtained from Indiana University at IPFW, although the specific dates are not provided. In addition to the academic qualifications, Jamie obtained certification as a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) from the Register of Professional Archaeologists in January 2015.
