Role: Senior Android Engineer I
Location: Soho Square, London Office / Hybrid
Reporting to: Engineering Manager
The Role
We are on a mission to be ‘the app you can’t move without’. Since launching Rightmove in 2000 with a will to make home-hunting happy, we are now the biggest property app and website in the UK with over 1 million android users a month.
The Senior Android Engineer role is based in a product development team and will include responsibilities like:
Improving our current code base with the latest technologies like Jetpack Compose, Hilt
Implementing new functionality and designs our users love making use of Kotlin, Coroutines, and Clean Architecture
Shaping the way we use and adopt new technologies and practices
Collaborating closely with other Android engineers
Working within an agile environment as part of a cross-functional team
Developing solutions that are maintainable and scalable whilst also meeting high performance standards
Support the Product Owner in ensuring the work is understood, carefully estimated, allocated, kept visible and completed on time.
Android Tech Stack: Jetpack Compose, Jetpack ViewModel, Hilt Dependency Injection, Coroutines (including Coroutine Flows), Room databases, Picasso (xml) & Coil (compose), Firebase (Crashlytics, A/B Tests, Remote Config), Retrofit, Espresso, Junit 5, Mockk

We’re looking for someone who:
Is great at solving problems
Has commercial experience of writing Android applications with Kotlin
Is enthusiastic about the importance of testing and promotes TDD
Wants to deliver high quality code and likes to debate the merits of different solutions
Is keen to use the latest technologies and takes initiative to improve the way the team works
Has a keen interest in the performance of live applications and how our users use them
Looks to share their knowledge with the rest of the product development team
Isn’t afraid to ask questions and use the experience of those around them
Has a sense of ownership and responsibility for the work you and your team deliver
